The coronavirus (koronavirus, in Finnish) nearly ended with air traffic at Helsinki-Vantaa airport.

According to data from Finavia, the main Finnish airport operator, in March total passenger numbers fell more than 57% compared to the same month the previous year. And the drop is almost 96% for example for routes to and from China.

Now, at Easter, traditionally one of the busiest times of the year, the main Finnish airport seems like a desert place.

According to Finavia, on Sunday there were only 18 scheduled flights, of which three from Paris, Tenerife and Mallorca had been canceled at the time of writing this article.

The Police department of eastern Uusimaa released a video on their Instagram account in which you can see the emptiness shown by the aerodrome at Easter. "Ghostly" is the adjective that the police use to describe it.

"Normally, at Easter, we would remind passengers to book more time than usual for the trip due to Easter congestion. This year, however, there is no need for it, as the airport is almost ghostly deserted, or what does it look like? 😳 There was room for driving on a golf cart! 👮‍♂️👮‍♀️🚔Stay at home, stay safe!," Police say.
