Salmonella has been detected in consignments of minced meat shipped to Finland by Danish operator Skare Meat Packers. The product has been on sale in Lidl stores, the Finnish Food Safety Authority (Ruokavirasto) reported on Friday.

More specifically, the bacteria has been found in Farmer's Favorites 10% minced beef, pack size 1000 grams. The expiration date of this lot has been 13/09/2020. The lot number is 2036 120 0503.

The Food Agency has launched an alert in case some consumers have frozen this type of meat for later consumption.

Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause salmonellosis disease in humans if the contaminated product has not been properly cooked before eating.

The food authority advises consumers to dispose the frozen meat or to use the minced meat only when it is well cooked.
