Car sales in Finland fell again in November. The number of new passenger cars registered last month was 7,374, which was 15.1% down from the same month the year before, according to Statistics Finland's latest data.

The figures also show that the market is changing towards a higher percentage of sales of electric and hybrid vehicles.

In November, the share of new electric passenger cars was 3.6% and plug-in hybrid electric cars 15.2%. Last month, 1,387 new electric and plug-in hybrid electric cars were registered, which was 61.5% up from the year before.

The total number of new motor vehicles registered was 12,819, of which 8,748 were automobiles. First registrations decreased by 6.8% from the corresponding month of the previous year.

These data are based on the Traffic Affairs Register of the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom). The numbers are exclusive of the vehicles on the Åland Islands.

January-November

In the January to November period of 2020 a total of 158,152 motor vehicles were first registered. Compared to the year before, there was a 10.2% decrease.

The number of passenger cars first registered in the January to November period was 88,280, which is 16.7% down from the year before.

The most common passenger car makes first registered in the January to November period were Toyota, Skoda and Volkswagen.
