Nightlife establishments in Catalonia will be authorized to reopen on 11 February.

The Catalan autonomous government approved on Tuesday at its weekly meeting that music bars, pubs and discos can resume their activity, which was last suspended on December 24.

The Government spokeswoman, Patricia Plaja, explained that these establishments will also be able to open without any restrictions on capacity or hours. Nor will it be necessary to show the Covid-19 certificate to be able to access the premises, she emphasized.

"Taking into account the current slowdown (in infections), it is considered that in ten days we will be in the optimal situation," Plaja pointed out to clarify why Catalans still have to wait a few days for the reopening of the nightlife sector.

The Catalan government believes that the sixth wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, caused by the Omicron variant, "has reached its peak."

However, Patricia Plaja has warned that the pandemic is not over and that it is still necessary to maintain the precautions learned in these two years of health crisis.
