North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Saturday offered his sympathy to US President Donald Trump and his wife Melania after they tested positive for coronavirus.

Kim "sincerely hoped that they would be recovered as soon as possible" and "hoped they will surely overcome it," according to an article by state-run news agency KCNA.

The two leaders have held two summits, in Singapore in 2018 and in Hanoi in 2019, and also met at the demarcation line between North and South Korea last year as they sought to reach an agreement on Pyongyang's nuclear weapons programme.
