A German holidaymaker has died while swimming in the sea during a holiday with his wife in Mallorca, the Guardia Civil confirmed on Monday.
The man, 70, suffered heatstroke and fainted while he was swimming, investigators believe.
A wave washed him close to some rocks where he hit his head.
Other tourists tried to bring him out of the water and called the rescue services. Rescuers brought him into a boat but were unable to resuscitate him.
The accident came during a heatwave in Spain, with temperatures reaching 30 degrees Celsius on Monday in some parts of the country.
