Barcelona have made a first written transfer bid of €32 million ($33.8 million) for Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski, according to a report on Sunday.

The Bild am Sonntag reported the offer has been made for the two-time world footballer of the year, who has said he will not renew his Bayern contract when it expires in 2023.

Lewandowski's agent Pini Zahavi told Bild's Monday edition: "Of course they can keep Robert for another year, to be fair he has a contract until 2023, but I wouldn't recommend that. For Robert Lewandowski, Bayern is history."

Previously the Spanish paper Sport said Bayern - who publicly say Lewandowski will complete his contract - had lowered their demands to 35-40 million for the 33-year-old, who can leave for nothing next July.

Barcelona are recovering from financial difficulties but coach Xavi has confirmed interest in the Poland star.

Bayern's director for sport, Hasan Salihamidzic, criticized Lewandowski's agent Zahavi for "turning his head" and confirmed the club still hoped to keep their player.

"In the conversation with his adviser, we clearly made him an offer," Salihamidzic told Sport1's "Doppelpass" on Sunday. "It is very clear that he has received an offer with a term and a sum."

Zahavi had previously frustrated Bayern over his involvement in David Alaba's move to Real Madrid, leading to then president Uli Hoeneß calling him a "money-grabbing piranha."

Barcelona 0-2 Villarreal

Barcelona's season ended with a whimper as Villarreal sealed a 2-0 LaLiga win at Camp Nou on Sunday.

The Catalan club's spot in next season's Champions League was secured earlier in May, yet Xavi will be disappointed his side have ended the campaign with just a solitary point from their final two games.

Barca looked the more likely to open the scoring inside the opening half hour, yet all they had to show for their dominance was a Sergio Busquets strike that flew narrowly over the crossbar.

The inability to take advantage of their superiority was punished four minutes before the interval as Alfonso Pedraza latched onto Daniel Parejo's pass and steered past Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Villarreal doubled their advantage in the 55th minute when Gomez lashed into the roof of net after cutting out Traore's dismal attempted clearance.
