The Spanish Civil Guard has arrested a 22-year-old man in Alcala la Real (Jaen, Andalusia) as the alleged perpetrator of the death of a 14-year-old girl who had been reported missing by her family.

According to Spanish press reports, the victim's body was found naked in the ruins of a church. The victim was identified by a photograph provided by the mother as K. E. Z., 14, of Spanish citizenship and Moroccan descent.

According to the Europa Press new agency, it was the suspect himself who called the emergency service 112 at 9:36 p.m. on Tuesday to report that he had killed a woman in the Castillo de la Mota area, in the municipality of Alcala la Real.

The suspect is a 22-year-old man, a resident of Alcala la Real.

A team of police officers from the Civil Guard traveled to the scene, where they found the alleged murderer, apparently calm. After the arrival of the police forces, he no longer collaborated with the investigation. At the moment it is not known if he had any kind of relationship with the dead girl.

Signs of violence

In the area, the civil guards located the body of a minor girl. Preliminary ocular inspection confirms that her body showed no signs of stab wounds or gunshot wounds. However, the body did show some "signs of violence" that the sources of the investigation have not specified.

According to the ABC newspaper, the victim died of suffocation.

The suspect remains detained at the Jaen Civil Guard Command.

During the day an autopsy will be performed to determine more precisely how the young girl died.
