The reopening of the economy and the recovery of the housing market after the Covid-19 crisis is also reflected in the mortgage statistics.

According to the latest data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), the number of mortgages on homes was 30,105 in August.

This is 66.9% more than in the same month of 2020.

This is also the highest number of mortgages registered in August in the last 11 years (since 2010), according to the INE.

On average, the mortgages signed in August had an amount of 137,885 euros, with an increase of 1.9% year-on-year.

The value of mortgages registered on urban properties reached 6,418.1 million euros, 49.9% more than in August 2020.

In housing, the capital loaned stands at 4,564.7 million, with an annual increase of 70.1%.

By nature of the estate, mortgages on homes account for 69.5% of the total capital loaned in August.
