Swedish Queen Silvia on Monday broke her wrist in connection with a fall at her home at Drottningholm Palace, outside Stockholm, the royal palace said.

The German-born queen, 77, was taken to hospital and her wrist was placed in a cast. She has returned to Drottningholm Palace, and is doing well under the circumstances, the palace statement read.

The palace had earlier released a series of photos showing the queen cross-country skiing in the palace grounds with several members of her family, including her husband King Carl XVI Gustaf, and their daughter, Crown Princess Victoria.
