More and more children are apparently getting lost and going missing amid the chaotic scenes at Kabul airport, according to reports by local media.

Afghanistan's Ariana Television Network has been reporting about one family from Kabul who have been looking after a lost child they found caught in barbed wire there.

Despite their efforts, they have been unable to locate the child's parents, the family said.

The boy, who is about 6 years old, said his family had gone to the airport in an attempt to flee the country.

His father apparently fell down in the crowd, and the child was unable to see either parent from that point on.

Local journalists also reported that people were posting photos of missing children at the airport.

In Kabul, there have been chaotic scenes at the airport for about a week as thousands of people attempt to flee Afghanistan following the takeover of the Islamist Taliban last Sunday.
