Two construction workers are dead after a roof they were repairing collapsed in the northern Spanish city of Gijon on Wednesday, according to media reports.

At least two others were injured in the accident, which occurred as a crew was trying to patch the roof while children are out on holiday.

They have been taken to hospital, reported the El Comercio newsppaer, citing city officials.

Local media noted that the accident could have been worse, had school been in session.

It's not clear what caused the collapse. It took rescuers multiple hours to find the second body, but they say no one else is missing.
