Spanish man arrested in Britain on suspicion of human trafficking

A 44-year-old man from Spain has been arrested on suspicion of human trafficking after people were seen getting out of a lorry on a motorway.

People were seen exiting a lorry on the hard shoulder of the M2 north of Maidstone in Kent on Saturday, police said.

The motorway was shut while officers investigated.

After a search of the area, six people were located and handed over to Home Office officials, Kent Police said.

A force spokesperson added: "A 44-year-old man from Spain was also arrested on suspicion of human trafficking and has since been released pending further enquiries."
