This year, the Madrid Pride week will take place from 1 to 10 of July and it will consist in different festive, cultural and right-claiming events

The Madrid Pride Festival (Madrid Orgullo, MADO) will return this year to fill the streets of the Spanish capital with color and music.

Madrid Pride has been growing over the last few years, and has gone from being a small gathering of people in the late 1980s to being considered the largest LGBTI party in Europe and one of the largest in the world, only surpassed by celebrations in the city of San Francisco (California).

It is estimated that more than a million and a half people, of which 300,000 are foreign tourists, join this massive party every year. Therefore, Madrid Pride is already one of the hallmarks of the Spanish capital, a symbol of tolerance a demand for respect for human rights delivered to the rest of the world.

In 2022, the Madrid Pride week will take place from 1 to 10 of July. It will consist in different festive, cultural and right-claiming events that will culminate with the grand parade on Saturday 9 July. The grand parade with floats and music starts at Atocha and continues down the Paseo del Prado towards Colón. At the end, a manifesto will be read to demand tolerance and equality for the LGBTIQ+ community.

Although the celebration begins on 1 July, the official starting signal for the main events will take place on 6 July in its traditional format from Plaza Pedro Zerolo with the reading of the proclamation by a relevant personality linked to the LGBTIQ+ collective.

Other notable events are the Mr. Gay Pride 2022 gala, which will celebrate its 15th edition on 8 July (whose finale is held each year on the Puerta del Sol stage), the popular High Heels Race and the Neighborhood Pride, with its emblematic dates in Chueca.

Madrid Pride 2022 will be part of the celebrations organized by the European Pride Organizers Association (EPOA) to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the first EuroPride, which took place in London in 1992.

In this way, the agenda of events will be coordinated with those held in parallel in the rest of the countries of the continent.
