Turnover and sales in trade grew in November

Trade in motor vehicles and department stores registered the largest increases. In wholesale trade, working day adjusted turnover and sales volume fell from the year before.

According to Statistics Finland, turnover in total trade adjusted for working days increased by 0.5% in November from November 2018. Over the same time period, the working day adjusted volume of sales, from which the impact of prices has been eliminated, increased by 1.2%.

Both turnover and sales volume grew in all trade industries except for wholesale trade.

In November, adjusted turnover in motor vehicle trade increased by 4.8% and the volume of sales by 4.2% year-on-year. In retail trade, both increased by slightly more than 2%.

The biggest growth among retail trade industries was seen in department store trade and daily consumer goods trade. The turnover of department store trade was 3.8% and that of daily consumer goods trade 3.1% higher than one year earlier.

In specialised store trade, turnover increased by 0.9% and sales volume by 2.4%. In wholesale trade, working day adjusted turnover and sales volume fell from the year before.
