Helsinki SDP politician charged with social security fraud

Samia Hagi Muse, a politician from the Social Democratic Party of Finland (SDP) has been charged with Social Security fraud by the Helsinki District Court, according to Finnish media.

The newspaper Helsingin Sanomat (HS) reported Monday that they spoke with the politician, who denied the accusation.

“I'm not under any charge. This is the first time I have heard about the whole thing,” she told.

According to HS, the criminal title of the accusation is fraud and the claimant is the Social Security Institution of Finland (Kela).

Samia Hagi Muse, 49, a member of the SDP board in Helsinki, also denied having had any relationship or received any support from Kela.

However, Laura Ylitalo, executive director of the Helsinki district SDP office, confirmed the case to HS: "She told us last week."
