PRICE CUTS EXPIRED

Migri rises residence permit fees for people forced to stay by Covid-19

The temporary amendment to the decree that allowed to cut prices since 22 May expired on 31 October.

On 20 May, the government of Finland announced a reduction in residence permit issuance fees for foreigners who had been unable to leave the country due to the movement restrictions imposed by the government in the context of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Ministry of the Interior then reported an amendment to the Decree on Fees Charged for Services Rendered by the Finnish Immigration Service. The ministry also said the discounts would enter into force on 22 May and expire on 31 October 2020.

Now that date has been passed. The Finnish Immigration Service (Migri) reported in its latest customer bulletin that the fees for a first temporary residence permit and an extended permit on the basis of restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic are as follows as of 1 November:

  • First temporary residence permit 520 euros (application for a child 270 euros).
  • Extended permit 260 euros (application for a child 200 euros).
