Prices of single-family homes increased by 5% in Helsinki area

The price per square metre in Greater Helsinki is more than double that of the rest of the country.

In Greater Helsinki, the prices of old single-family houses rose by 4.9% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2019 while in the rest of the country they fell by 0.5%.

According to new data by Statistics Finland, in the capital area the average price per square metre of single-family houses was 3,239 euros. That is more than double that in the rest of the country, where the average price per square metre was 1,463 euros.

In the whole country, the average price per square metre of old single-family houses was 1,582 euros in the third quarter of 2019.

In the third quarter of 2019, prices of detached house plots fell by 1.3% in the whole country from the year before. From the previous quarter, prices of plots increased by 1.2%. The average price per square metre for a detached house plot was 21.8 euros and the average size of a sold plot was 2,601 square metres.

These data derive from Statistics Finland’s Index of real estate prices, calculated after data from the real estate transaction register of the National Land Survey of Finland.
