Passengers at Finnish airports decreased by 90% in September

The number of passengers at Helsinki Airport decreased by 92%.

In September 2020, altogether 217,830 passengers flew through Finnish airports, which was 90% fewer than twelve months earlier.

There were 161,715 passengers at Helsinki Airport and a total of 56,115 passengers at other domestic airports. Helsinki Airport accounted for 74% of all passengers at domestic airports.

The number of passengers at Helsinki Airport decreased by 92% and the combined number of passengers at other domestic airports went down by 83% compared to September 2019.

53% per cent of the passengers were from international flights and 47% from domestic flights. The share of passengers on international flights was 69% at Helsinki Airport and 7% in total at other domestic airports.

January-September

In January to September, altogether 5.9 million passengers flew through Finnish airports, which was 70% fewer than twelve months earlier. 70% of the passengers were from international flights and 30% from domestic flights.

The number of passengers at Helsinki Airport was 4.7 million and at other domestic airports 1.2 million passengers in total. Helsinki Airport accounted for 79% of passengers at domestic airports.

In January to September, air freight and mail transport totaled 96,322 tonnes, which was 42% lower than one year earlier. 98% of the tonnes passed through Helsinki Airport and 99% were transported in traffic between Finland and foreign countries.

Altogether, 52,964 tonnes of the transported volume of goods were outgoing and 43,358 tonnes were incoming.
