Latvian Prime Minister Krišjānis Karinš to visit Finland

In Helsinki he will meet with the Prime Minister, Sanna Marin, and with the President of the Republic, Sauli Niinistö.

Latvia’s Prime Minister Krišjānis Karinš will visit Finland on Wednesday 12 February and meet with Prime Minister Sanna Marin in Helsinki, informed the Finnish Government Communications Department in a press release.

The Prime Ministers will discuss cooperation between Finland and Latvia in the energy and infrastructure sectors as well as environmental cooperation between the Baltic Sea states.

Topical EU issues, such as the European Green Deal, climate policy and the next financial framework, are also on the agenda. The EU's next financial framework, in other words the EU’s long-term budget for 2021-2027, is to be agreed upon between EU Heads of State or Government at the special meeting of the European Council on 20 February.

During his visit to Finland, Prime Minister Karinš will also meet with President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö at 10:45 at the Mäntyniemi presidential residence.
