A 29 year-old man born in Ghana contacted teenage girls on Instagram and attracted them by offering alcohol, tobacco and drugs.

The Helsinki Court of Appeal has sentenced a 29-year-old man born in Ghana, Frank Emanuel, to 6 years and 2 months of imprisonment for three aggravated sexual abuses of minors, two rapes, child sexual exploitation and drug offences.

His victims are four girls, aged 12 to 15 when the crimes were committed in 2017-2018.

The court considers proven that the man contacted teenage girls on Instagram and started with them chat conversations which quickly turned sexual. Then he sent them pictures of his genitals to the girls and required nude pictures in return.

He also attracted his victims by offering them alcoholic drinks, tobacco and cannabis.

Defenseless

Three girls visited his home in Espoo. Two of them, then aged 14 and 15, were together at the apartment and Emanuel forced them to have sexual intercourse. The victims, who were in a semi-unconscious state, were completely vulnerable and could not defend themselves.

With the third victim, who was 15 at the time of the crimes, Emanuel had sex on three occasions. However, the Court of Appeal considered that the man did not rape her.

There is a fourth victim, who was 12, with whom the man sent messages of sexual tone. But they did not meet face to face.
