205 people died on Finnish roads in 2019

15 pedestrians and 18 cyclists were among those killed. Other 25 victims traveled by motorcycle.

According to Statistics Finland data, a total of 3,977 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in January to December period. In them, 205 persons were killed and 4,987 persons were injured.

The number of persons killed was 32 lower and that of persons injured 288 lower than in the corresponding period of 2018. Of the persons who were killed, 121 traveled by passenger car, 10 by van, three by moped, 25 by motorcycle and 3 by lorry. Pedestrians killed numbered 15 and cyclists 18. In addition, 10 other road users were killed.

In December

In December, 303 accidents involving personal injury happened. In them, 11 persons were killed and 401 were injured. The number of persons killed was 14 lower and that of persons injured 19 higher than in December 2018.

Of the persons who were killed, seven traveled by passenger car. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered two and cyclists one. In addition, one other road user was killed. Among those who died, eight were men and three were women.
