Sweden recorded its first coronavirus death, according to Stockholm health authorities.

The victim was an elderly patient. He was one of the two patients who were hospitalized in intensive care. He died on Wednesday at the Karolinska University Hospital in Huddinge, southern Stockholm.

Another patient remains in intensive care in the Stockholm area. On Wednesday, Sweden had reported nearly 490 cases of coronavirus (koronavirus, as spelled in Finland), most of them in the capital region.

The Swedish Government said on Wednesday any events gathering more than 500 people would be cancelled throughout the country in order to prevent the spread of the Covid-19.
